Each recipe below makes enough seasoning to fill 3–4, 125 mL mason jars.
Taco Seasoning
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup chili powder
- 1/2 cup + 2 tbsp. paprika
- 4.5 tbsp. ground oregano
- 1/2 cup + 1 tbsp cumin
- 4.5 tbsp onion powder
- 4.5 tbsp garlic powder
- 1.5 tsp cayenne pepper
Directions
- In a large bowl, mix together all ingredients. Make sure to break up any clumps in the mixture. Divide the spice mixture into 3-4. 125 mL mason jars.
- When ready to use taco seasoning, use 2 tbsp. of seasoning per 1 lb. of meat. Brown the meat, drain any excess fat and sprinkle with seasoning. Add 1/3 cup of water and allow mixture to simmer.
Steak Spice
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup + 1 tbsp ground black pepper
- 1/2 cup + 1 tbsp kosher salt
- 6 tbsp garlic powder
- 6 tbsp paprika
- 6 tbsp onion powder
- 3 tbsp dill seed
- 3 tbsp ground coriander
- 1.5 tbsp crushed red pepper flakes
- 3 tbsp dry mustard
Directions
- In a large bowl, mix together all ingredients. Make sure to break up any clumps in the mixture. Divide the spice mixture into 3-4. 125 mL mason jars.
- When ready to use, shake the spice mixture over steak before cooking to add a bolder flavour.
Sweet & Smokey BBQ Dry Rub
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup salt
- 1.5 tbsp black pepper
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 5 tbsp + 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 2 tbsp chipotle chili pepper
- 2 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 2 tsp ground ginger
- 4 tbsp white sugar
- 1 tbsp + 1 tsp garlic powder
- 2 tsp dry mustard
Directions
- In a large bowl, mix together all ingredients. Make sure to break up any clumps in the mixture. Divide the spice mixture into 3-4. 125 mL mason jars.
- When ready to use BBQ rub, sprinkle or rub on poultry, pork or beef before cooking to enhance the flavour.
